Arco

Arco has belonged amongst the most popular Italian crags for decades. It lies in Northern Italy (Trentino), close to the beautiful Lake Garda, which is a well-known location to all sailing and MTB fanatics as well. The small town of Arco is very picturesque and apart from climbing has a lot of other things to offer, not only great food and wine, pretty architecture, well stocked climbing and MTB shops but also very friendly people and chilled atmosphere. Arco climbing area is very convenient in terms of having a wide range of grades, climbing styles and easy accessibility to the majority of the crags. It really has something for everybody, multi-pitch routes on big walls as well as a great variety of sport crags of different lengths, difficulties and styles. 

The rock at Arco is superb limestone. It is preferable though to have a guide with you to show you the best places to climb where the rock is not too polished. And you bet there are sectors to choose from! There are thousands of sport climbs in over 50 sectors in the area. The Arco rock seems to be just perfect to climb. It is covered with pockets and tufas and forms amazing overhangs. It offers great climbs in beautiful scenery and there is a friendly atmosphere in the sectors!

If you fancy big walls, in Arco there are about 30 multi-pitch sectors you can choose from. They are Dolomite-style big wall routes on steep limestone and some of them reach up to 1400m. The majority of the multi-pitch climbs are of 200-600m and naturally they require you to use protection such as cams and friends. 

The best seasons for climbing in Arco are Spring and Autumn but Summer temperatures are more appropriate for sunbathing at Lake Garda than for climbing.
